On Saturday, November 16, 2002 the NW Region of Ferrari Club of
America toured the Pat Hart collection. Mr. Hart's collection of automobiles, art and fossils belongs in a museum but is housed in very ordinary looking office park that is in fact the offices of Hart Properties. How you can get any work done with the distraction of all that cool stuff right outside your office window is beyond me. The design of the room is outstanding. Black stone flooring, indirect lighting and mirrored columns combine to make a perfectly classy setting for the collection. And what a collection it is. There are a dozen or so MGs, most with racing heritage. A half a dozen Ferraris, new and old, plus one of three 1957 Ferrari factory transporters that exist. A genuine Batmobile, Jags, Listers, Lotus and more round out the collection. Some are in unrestored condition with the patina of many years of use. Most have been restored to a very high level of craftsmanship. And they are driven, raced and taken to car shows, few garage queens are here. The walls are littered with dozens of art prints, original posters, photos, drawings and other memorabilia including several rare and unusual engines lying around. There are several cases of model cars in all scales, totaling hundreds if not a thousand in all. There are dozens of geologic artifacts as well. Fossils in gigantic size, just plain large size and small size are scattered throughout. A huge quartz crystal, an enormous pure copper nodule are two of many other artifacts. Mr. Hart obviously had an appreciation for the beauty found in nature. Overall, it was an excellent way to spend a Saturday morning. I took a pile of photos with my new digital camera but didn't cover half of what there was to see. Enjoy... |
